About Me
Ted E. Kissel
Graphic design has always been a passion of mine. I have always loved working
with color. I have a bachelor’s degree in Arts and Sciences from Indiana State
University and I majored in painting. Color has always been an integral part of my paint-
ings, and I enjoy using a diverse variety of color in my design work. When I was nine
years old, I fell in love with the “Terrors Of The Deep” Sea World exhibit logo design. I
have always thought the man who designed it was a genius because through the use of
color, he inspired so much feeling.
When I hear an idea for a new company or product, my mind immediately starts
generating pictures of logos that inspire interest in that company or product. This ability to
think in pictures and the enjoyment of recreating those pictures through art is the
foundation of my love for art. Art has been my favorite subject in school since the second
grade. The encouragement and support of great art teachers who acknowledged and
expanded my talent bought forth a hard working and determined attitude. When I started
studying graphic design two years ago, I quickly learned that my traditional art skills
transitioned smoothly into media design on computers. The same great textures and color
combinations can be generated on a computer to create feelings that provoke interest
in people
I attended college to study graphic design, because I wanted to expand my experi-
ence in using digital art programs. Through my studies at the Art Institute of Indianapolis, I
have learned to use adobe CS4 and 5. I initially used CS4 in Illustrator, Photoshop, Flash,
In Design, Premier, Encoder, Dream Weaver, and After Effects. My portfolio is diverse, but
I have a special interest in sports, animals, and music. Designing DVD video menus is
one of my greatest passions. At the Art Institute of Indianapolis I have completed projects
designing ad campaigns, design briefs, and standards manuals. I enjoy and have strong
skills in designing and formatting web banners. I particularly enjoy animating my web
banners. I am a person who goes above and beyond what is ask of me if I think it will
make the final design better.
I have always had an interest graphic design and how it has evolved throughout the
past decades. I look forward to using the design skills I have learned at the Art Institute of
Indianapolis to help me to continue to inspire others with my work
